DAN O‘GORMAN
Dan grew up in Northland working in the New Zealand marine industry by way of the family commercial fishing business.
At 21 he gave up fishing and started with Auckland’s Miller Moyes Seacraft where he spent 11 years under the watchful eyes of Lionel Sands and Dennis Kendal learning the skills needed to build Haines Hunter boats and spending his last 3 years there as the rigger.
He left Auckland with his wife to return to Northland and took up a role at Marine North in the parts department but once again found his way back into a workshop position rigging and began his training as an outboard technician. Later on he moved to Warren Hay Marine to complete his NZMAC ITO powerboat service and repair technician certificate before gaining his second NZMAC ITO qualification in powerboat rigging.
Dan is excited to be coming on board with the MAST Academy to help nurture the up and coming apprentices in the New Zealand marine industry. When he is not working he loves being out enjoying the fishing and boating around Northland.
