An Introduction to Marine Systems Engineering

This pre trade micro credential  introduces school leavers and youth in New Zealand to marine systems engineering, providing learners the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills in the marine industry to go onto a full Marine Systems apprenticeship.


An Introduction to Marine Systems Engineering includes practical and theory in:

  • Use and care of hand tools

  • Draw and interpret marine systems engineering sketches

  • Operating simple mechanical plant or equipment

  • Operation sequencing, timing and firing order

  • Producing marine components by performing drilling operations

  • Prepare and perform turning operations

  • Produce templates or pattern components

Legal eligibility to study in NZ Residents and Citizens only. Minimum of 16 years of age. English language requirements.
